Who Should Be Involved?

Guidance on identifying and involving key stakeholders in the mapping process.

Last updated: April 5, 2025

Am I doing this individually or as a team?

Ideally, as a team. Stakeholder mapping is most effective when it draws on multiple perspectives — especially from those working closest to the context, such as field staff, programme leads, and community-facing partners.

Key Participants

Who needs to be involved in this activity?

Anyone with a deep understanding of the project and its context. This could include project managers, field officers, partner organisations, and others with direct relationships or influence over stakeholders.

Collaboration Process

Can multiple people contribute to the same stakeholder map?

Yes. We recommend this is done as a facilitated group session, led by the Project Creator. It’s a collaborative process — bring your team together to reflect, discuss, and populate responses as a group.

Mid-Implementation Approach

1

If we are already mid-implementation, how should we approach this?

That’s no problem. Use this opportunity to reflect on who’s been engaged so far — and who might have been overlooked. It’s a chance to recalibrate and strengthen your engagement. You can also upload an existing list of stakeholders and use the module to review and complete the mapping for them.
